ABOUT TIMELAPSE
Timelapse means that you take several photographs in a particular interval during a certain period of time and put these pictures together into a movie. This allows you to show hours in only a few seconds.
You may choose an interval of 5 seconds which means you take one picture each 5 seconds. Then you decide how long you want to shoot. Let’s say you will be taking pictures each 5 seconds during 2 hours. You will end up having 1440 pictures taken in 2 hours. However, a movie is nothing else than a certain amount of pictures (frames) per second. Usually, I take a frame rate of 29 frames per second for the movie. Now, if you took 1440 photographs in 2 hours and you put them together into a movie (29 frames per second) you will end up having a movie of about 48 seconds. However, this means your timelapse will now show 2 hours in only 48 seconds.
This technique enables to visualize movements that usually won’t get noticed because they are too slow in reality. I think this is so fascinating! So many times I was thinking that nothing really moved or nothing did happen at all. But when I put my photographs into a timelapse it just got amazing and things I didn’t see at all were moving. Suddenly, you realize how incredible the colors of the sky were changing or how clouds got formed behind the peak of a mountain. Timelapse visualizes the beauty and magic of our planet.
I will soon post some more of my timelapse movies here. Please click the links below. These are just some examples… I am still working on putting timelapses together and I am trying to compose songs that could fit. You may also find my own music on my music page The PD Project.

The best camera will never take the best picture. It’s the eye of the person behind it.

It’s not about editing but about spending time, being curious, observing and especially wondering about the beauty and magic of our planet.
